On July 28, eLUXURY.com launched the buzzed-about new label Current / Elliott-a denim collection that includes vintage-inspired jeans, jackets, dresses, and vests.
Founded by celebrity stylists Emily Current and Meritt Elliott, this customized vintage denim line reinterprets classic silhouettes from the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Wearing their own customized jeans to fittings and photo shoots, the duo-also known by their styling moniker MAUDE-quickly sparked celebrities' interests, and thus Current / Elliott was born. Each style has a specific historical reference, an original vintage sample, and a year of origin. And each wash, from "Loved" to "Super Loved," has an authentic, worn-in feel.
Current / Elliott emphasizes a variety of silhouettes in the collection including the Elephant Bellbottom, the Boyfriend Jean, and the Bush Flare Jean. The custom throwbacks all have the markings of classics-the Boyfriend Jean models Levi's 501, while the Elephant Bellbottom is a dead -ringer for your mother's vintage flares.
According to stylists-turned-designer duo Current / Elliott, the jeans are offered in "Loved" or "Super Loved" washes that "... are created to mirror the look of a really loved pair of vintage jeans." To up the ante in the vintage department, both washes are available in the "Destroyed" option, adding purposeful holes and a more worn-in look to the jean.
While denim addicts are sure to swoon over the jeans, Current / Elliott also features a unique selection of denim jackets, dresses, and vests. One notable silhouette includes the Circle Vest, a clear nod to the 1960's Wrangler version.
